What it requires
1.3.5 of Regulation (EU) 2023/1230 requires: in combined machinery, each element must be capable of being used separately in safety. It is unchanged in substance compared with Directive 2006/42/EC and applies to machinery placed on the market from 20 January 2027.

Where the machinery or related product is intended to carry out several different operations with manual removal of the piece between each operation (combined machinery or related product), it shall be designed and constructed in such a way as to enable each element to be used separately without the other elements constituting a risk for exposed persons. For this purpose, it shall be possible to start and stop separately any elements that are not protected.
