What it requires
1.3.8 of Regulation (EU) 2023/1230 requires: guards and protective devices are selected according to the risk posed by the moving parts. It is unchanged in substance compared with Directive 2006/42/EC and applies to machinery placed on the market from 20 January 2027.

Guards or protective devices designed to protect against risks arising from moving parts shall be selected on the basis of the type of risk. The following guidelines shall be used to help to make the choice.
