When does Regulation (EU) 2023/1230 become mandatory?+
It applies from 20 January 2027 (the date set by the corrigendum published in OJ L 169 of 4 July 2023). From that day it repeals Directive 2006/42/EC: machinery placed on the market must comply with the Regulation.
Does this affect me if my machines already carry CE marking?+
Not the units you placed on the market before 20 January 2027, unless they are substantially modified. It does affect every unit you place on the market from that date, even of an existing model: it must comply with the Regulation, including its instructions.
What if the AI gets it wrong?+
It can happen: the check is for guidance only, which is why every finding quotes the sentence and page from your manual so you can verify it in seconds. With the Regulation Pack, a legal specialist personally reviews and corrects the manual, and you approve the final version.
Do you sign the EU declaration of conformity or certify the machine?+
No. The risk assessment, the technical file, the conformity assessment and signing the EU declaration of conformity are the manufacturer's responsibility (and, where applicable, a notified body's). We deliver a technical draft of the instructions and the related documentation, reviewed by a legal specialist, which the manufacturer then validates and signs.
How many manuals does a Regulation Pack cover?+
One. A Pack covers one instruction manual of up to 40 pages in 3 languages (the original plus 2 translations). If several models share the same manual, for example variants that only differ in size or power, they are covered by the same Pack. If each model has its own manual, each manual is a Pack. If your manual is longer or you need more languages, we give you a fixed price before we start.
Do I have to subscribe to the instructions portal?+
No. The Pack and the portal are independent. You only need the portal if you want to supply the instructions digitally with a QR code, as Article 10(7) allows. It costs €79 per month (up to 10 models) or €199 per month (unlimited models and per-serial-number QR codes), excluding VAT and with no minimum term: cancel with 30 days' notice and we give you a complete copy to host on your own domain.
Do we have to switch to digital instructions?+
No. Article 10(7) allows it as an option. What is mandatory is that the instructions meet Annex III of the Regulation. If you opt for the digital format, you must indicate on the machine how to access them, allow them to be downloaded and printed, keep them online for the machine's lifetime and for at least 10 years, and supply a free paper copy if the customer asks for one at the time of purchase.
What about machinery for non-professional users?+
If the machine may be used by non-professional users, the safety information essential for putting it into service and using it safely must also be supplied on paper.
What do you do with my manual?+
We analyse it with artificial intelligence solely to produce your report. We store the encrypted PDF and the report for 24 months so we can give you the results and offer you the update; it is not used to train models. We do not sell or publish your documentation. Details in the privacy policy.
Why not just do it with ChatGPT?+
You can ask it for a summary, but you won't get a closed checklist against the official text of Annex III, a consistent glossary across several languages, version control, 10-year hosting with a QR code per machine or a personal review by a legal specialist before delivery.
