What it requires
1.5.12 of Regulation (EU) 2023/1230 requires: laser equipment with no accidental radiation and protection against direct, reflected, scattered or secondary radiation. It is unchanged in substance compared with Directive 2006/42/EC and applies to machinery placed on the market from 20 January 2027.

Where laser equipment is used, the following shall be taken into account: (a) laser equipment on machinery or related products shall be designed and constructed in such a way as to prevent any accidental radiation; (b) laser equipment on machinery or related products shall be protected in such a way that effective radiation, radiation produced by reflection or diffusion and secondary radiation do not damage health; (c) optical equipment for the observation or adjustment of laser equipment on machinery or related products shall be such that no health risk is created by laser radiation.
